Is hypnosis training right for you? Tune in to that quiet voice inside yourself. You may be surprised at what you hear!!
Eight years ago, I quit my well-paying job as a District Sales Manager for a bakery company, sold my house in Louisiana and most of my belongings, and moved back to my hometown, San Antonio, and in with my parents at the age of 40! The voice inside my head kept telling me, "It's time to follow your heart. Do what you love. The money will take care of itself. Don't be afraid. It will all work out."
At the time, my goal was to become a motivational consultant, to start an inspiration business...you know, motivational speaking engagements, "Mind Over Matter" seminars, Mind Power books and CDs!!
Needless to say, I was quite taken aback when, one day as I worked in my home office, the voice very softly whispered, "Study hypnosis!"
By this time, I'd had quite a bit of experience with "hearing voices," so I did what I always do when the voice tells me to do something. I DID it!
What I have experienced over the next eight years is little short of miraculous. Becoming a hypnotist has completely transformed my life. Even when things haven't gone exactly as I thought (or hoped) they would, the journey has always been one of wonder and gratitude. I feel so incredibly blessed every day for the people I meet in my work, for the miracles I get to witness, for the great friends I've made.
My mission in life is to help people "change their lives by changing their minds," to be the inspiration, the catalyst. I use the same techniques with my clients that I practice myself. And I opened a hypnosis school in 2006 to help amplify that message.
If you are reading this article, perhaps the Universe is guiding you to study hypnosis as well.
At this point, you're probably either saying to yourself, "All right, just what I've been waiting for!" or "This woman is nuts!" If you fall into the latter category, I beg your indulgence. Ask yourself these questions: What would my life be like if I could learn to eliminate my biggest weaknesses? What could I accomplish if I significantly reduced or eliminated my fears? How could I improve my current career if I learned to tap into the limitless potential of my subconscious mind? What if I could eliminate physical or emotional pain from my life just by "adjusting" my attitudes? What if I could: stop smoking, lose weight, stop procrastinating, improve my memory, learn to manifest abundance in my life, have deeper relationships, stop making excuses for what's "wrong" in my life, or help someone I cared about to do any of the above?
Not everyone who finds value in studying hypnosis becomes a professional hypnotist. In fact, I've known people who used it to become better: educators, parents, police officers, sales people, counselors and therapists, massage therapists or human beings. Hypnosis is a wonderful adjunct to any holistic practice. In my office, we combine it with herbalism, acupuncture, massage therapy, reflexology, Reiki and psychotherapy.
Healing begins in the mind, when we change our thoughts and attitudes. So any technique that strengthens the mind's ability to heal itself and the body amplifies the process.
I've always been one of those people who could spot trends long before they happened. In my opinion, the American Medical system is broken. (News Flash: I'm not the only person who feels this way.) It's not that there aren't good, caring doctors out there. I've met and work with plenty of them. But the majority of them are overworked, over stressed, required by the insurance companies to see a patient every 7 minutes, and get the majority of their information from drug reps!!!
What is WRONG with this picture??!
Consumers, hearing about the preventable, wrongful deaths from pharmaceuticals that have been divulged in the media, will continue to search for alternatives in ever increasing numbers. More and more are turning to alternative medicine every day. It's safe. It's effective. And modalities such as hypnosis teach people to heal themselves.
Where will this shift in consciousness leave the hypnotists?
"Sitting in the catbird seat" I believe.
I can envision a world one day where, if a person happens to get sick, they simply concentrate their mind on the problem area and release the blockage and heal. I know lots of people, including myself, who are already doing it. Just yesterday, a new client told me, "When I was 18 I was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer. They told me if I didn't have treatment, I would die. That was over 20 years ago. I used meditation and spent some time in a Sensory Deprevation Chamber."
If this world sounds appealing to you and you have the desire to be at the forefront of this movement, give me a call. I welcome any questions and comments.
