To contact Diane Thomas via email about Drumming Circle, click here.
Sacred drumming circle every first and third beginning Monday, December 17, 2007 from 7 – 8:30 PM at San Antonio’s Wellness Center, 4823 Fredericksburg Road. Donations are welcomed.
Through drumming, we awaken our primordial sense of who we are as spiritual beings. The drumbeat connects us to generations of ancestors who have gone before us. Drumming reawakes in us our power to heal, to hold intentions for peace and good, and to connect us to the deep well of spiritual wisdom within us.
Participating in a sacred drumming circle is a radically different way of thinking and being that returns us to original forms of community. The drum is the vehicle that carries the group intention, sacredness, commitment, equality, heart consciousness, and gratitude. Even in groups that do not articulate these elements, the nature of the sacred drumming circle reinforces them. In drumming, we tap into the deep well of Spirit that lies within us, too deep for words.
We will drum for about twenty minutes followed by a period of silence. You may find it helpful to journal during the silence, or you might simply enjoy resting in the quiet to consider what the drum has spoken to you. There will be a period of shared reflection followed by a closing ritual.
Call Diane Thomas, 210-410-2979, for further information.

To contact Lelia Benshoof via email, click here.
Our dance instructor, Lelia Benshoof, brings to you The Funk Facktory Dance Project, a therapeutic dance program for those in need of DANCE THERAPY or more like Dance For the Needy! The Funk Facktory is what the name says- Funky and Hip. Classes and workshops are for all levels and concentrate on jazz funk, funk cardio, hip hop cardio, hip hop, dance expression, dance interpretation, and technique.
She teaches "Dance for the Soul" on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. and "Dance Impact" at 7 p.m. on Friday nights. To learn more, visit her website at www.funckfacktorydance.com.
Lelia Benshoof has been dancing since the age of nine, after being accepted in a performing arts elementary school in her hometown of Columbus,Ohio. She started dancing to get through stressful moments growing up. Dance became a stress outlet and a way to solve problems.
At the age of 12, she moved to Orange County, California and was a member of her high school dance team, which was coached by an ex-Lakers cheerleader. While living in California, she participated in the Disneyland Creativity Challenge and auditioned in front of hundreds in Hollywood for the 80’s TV show, "Puttin on the Hits." She moved back to her hometown, Columbus, and in her 11th grade year, was accepted into Fort Hayes Metropolitan Center's Pre-Professional Dance Program. The program trains students to prepare for a dance career along with curriculum in injury prevention, dance history, dance interpretation, and dance movement.
Under the direction of China White, retired ballerina with Dance Theatre of Harlem, she got extensive training in ballet, jazz, and modern dance, and collaborated with instructors that trained with the dance program at Ohio State University. While at Fort Hayes, she was involved in numerous performances throughout the city, including promoting Calvin Klein’s "Obsession."
After time off to give birth to her son, Lelia’s finally gotten back to her passion-DANCE- and has found her calling in helping others through dance. She joined the Award Winning San Antonio Street Dance and Drum Company in 2003, where she became lead dancer and choreographer. She coordinated and choreographed many performances including the 2005, 2006 Fiesta Flambeau Parades, 2006 St. Patrick’s Day Performance at the Arneson Theater, San Antonio Aids Foundation Annual Webb Party, Annual Children’s Festival on the Riverwalk, and the San Antonio College Book Fair. In addition, she has performed on Great Day SA with Cynthia Trinidad, former Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader and Director of the San Antonio Roses, and at the Cielo Lounge, and many Halloween, Mardi Gras, and Ford Holiday River barges. She travels frequently back to southern California to train at well known studios in Hollywood such as Millenium Dance Complex, The Edge Performing Arts Academy, and Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio. She is the dance coordinator for Diversified Youth Services, an after-school dance program in San Antonio and Austin that performs at parades and Spurs/Silver Stars pre-game shows.

This Chen 18 Essential Form was created by Grandmaster Chen Zheng Lei, 11th generation direct line successor of Chen Tai Chi. This abbreviated version (18 movements) of the long form (74 movements) was created to make available the benefits of Chen Style Tai Chi to more individuals in a quicker manner for life enhancement. The form is appropriate for any age group.
The essence of Chen Style Tai Chi consists of relaxation through the combination of both fast and slow movements. It is characterized by spiral movements known as silk reeling. The coordination of correct breathing with body movement integrates with consciousness to bring about a true holistic effect.

"Pleasure as a Nutrient and other Principles of OM Cooking" by Paula Davies. Many Americans eat mechanically. But
have you ever had a ³foodgasm²?
Beyond vitamins and minerals , cooking and eating should provide us with a
physically embodied experience of pleasure as well as the power of food to restore and reconnect us. Food should make us feel as content and juicy as a fresh
ripe Fredericksberg peach. Learn the food OM and other principles of OM
Cooking.
Paula Davies, LMT, has been in practice as a hands-on healer and body worker
since 1998. She was a staff teacher at the Lionheart Institute for
Transpersonal Energy for 5 years. However, food has always played a part in
her healership. She has managed an orchard, growing over 30 varieties of
apples as well as herbs, veggies and flowers, using sustainable methods. She
has been a private chef, a caterer and owned a down home gourmet drugstore
soda fountain. She still cooks for 2-3 meditation retreats per year,
providing meals that nurture body and soul and inspiring volunteers to bring
creativity, sensuality and fun to the kitchen. In 2007, she was honored with
the title of tenzo (cook) by an ordained Buddhist nun.
In 2003, she founded
the Health and Healing Consortium (HHC), a non-profit that connects
practitioners and the public with resources for health and healing. To find out more or to join the email tree, go to www.hhcinfo.org
